G11-Fantasy Cricket Prediction for Today's Match

After a brilliant 15-year career representing England in all three forms, all-rounder Chris Woakes has formally announced his retirement from international cricket.

Woakes' international career came to an end at the age of 36 after he injured his left shoulder during the fifth Test match against India at The Oval in late July 2025.

In addition to keeping him out of the rest of that game, the injury he did pick up in the England Ashes squard ended his chances of playing in the upcoming Ashes series.

With Woakes' key contract not being renewed, England's team management had already made it clear that he was no longer part of their plans. This change was further supported by the Ashes exclusion.

Career Highlight

  • In 2011, Woakes made his debut for his country. He represented England in 33 T20 Internationals, 122 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 62 Test matches during his career.
  • He made valuable contributions with the bat, including one century and multiple fifties, and took 192 wickets at an average of about 29.61 in Test cricket.
  • He played a significant role in England's success on the white-ball front, including being included in the team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2019 ICC Men's World Cup (50-overs).

Looking Ahead

Woakes plans to play domestic cricket even if he is withdrawing from international competition. He has always been from Warwickshire, so county cricket is still on the cards, and he is also willing to look into franchise possibilities.

An era for England comes to an end with his retirement; he was a player who was renowned for his resolve, dependability, and quiet leadership when it counted. Woakes' all-around effect, both with bat and ball and in crucial situations, leaves a legacy of what a dependable, dedicated international cricket player looks like, even though big names frequently garner more attention.
