ENG v IND 2025: Nitish Kumar Reddy Out Of England Tour, Due To Knee Injury
Updated - 21-JUL-2025 5:42 IST

On 20 July, after suffering a knee joint injury, India's young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was formally ruled out of the remaining Test series against England. After scans in Manchester showed significant damage to his left knee, the news broke, essentially ending his involvement in the series.
Injury and Diagnosis
Reddy, 22, suffered the injury during a gym workout on July 20, 2025, a few days before the ENG vs IND fourth Test in Manchester on July 23-27. He was initially named in the starting lineup for the second and third Test matches. He will be out "for the remainder of the tour" due to a major injury to his ligaments discovered by the scans.
Chance For Shardul Thakur And Anshul Kamboj
India's existing fitness problem is made worse by Reddy's ailment. Pacers Arshdeep Singh (hand) and Akash Deep (groin) were already doubtful before the Manchester Test. The selectors responded by selecting Anshul Kamboj as a cover, with Shardul Thakur expected to make a comeback to the starting lineup.
India is behind 2-1. India’s 4th match is do-or-die match
In the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, India is behind 2-1. Do-or-die importance now surrounds the fourth Test, which will take place at Old Trafford from July 23 to 27. The squad had to rearrange their lower-order batting and bowling depth because Reddy is out.
