ENG v SA 2025 1st T20I: SA Won By 14 Runs With DLS Method, SA Lead By 1-0

On 10th September, the first match of South Africa's tour of England 2025 was played in Cardiff. Rain interrupted the game, but South Africa beat England by 14 runs with the DLS method. South Africa leads the 3-match T20I series 1-0.

After losing the toss, South Africa came to bat. Rain interrupted the match early, starting late with reduced overs. The game happened in 7.5 overs on both sides. 

South Africa lost the first wicket of Ryan, who got a golden duck. After the first wickets, captain Aiden and Lhuan make and control the middle game, making a partnership of 32 runs. 

In the end, Dewald Brevis and Donovan Ferreira gave the cameo of a finish, both scored 23 and 25 runs with a strike rate of 200+. In the end, South Africa scored 97/5 in 7.5 overs. 

England's bowling side, Luke Wood, gave the early breakthrough to England, taking 2 wickets. Jamie Overton, Rashid, and Sam Curran took 1 wicket each. 

DLS Method, target was 69 in 5 overs

Chasing a new target of 69 in 5 overs, England lost their first wicket in the first ball of Rabada, losing P Salt for a duck. Josh Buttler scored 25 runs in just 11 balls with a strike rate of 200+. England only played against those who scored more than 10 runs.

Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook ©, and Tom Banton do not have a greater impact on the game. England scored in their 5 overs 57 runs. 

South Africa bowlers shine, Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch both took 2-2 wickets. Rabada gives early wickets. 
 

South Africa has led the 3-Match T20I Series by 1-0. The Second T20I is a do-or-die for England

After this win, South Africa leads 1-0 in the 3-match T20I series. England needs to win the second T20I to level the series. The second T20I match will be played on 12 September in Manchester. South Africa already won the ODI series by 2-1 against England in this series.
