ENG v SA Series 2025 3rd ODI Match: ENG Won By 342 Runs, Historic Margin By Runs

On 7 September, in the 2nd ODI match of the England v South Africa series 2025, England beat South Africa by 342 runs.  England created history by beating any team by a 340+ runs margin. Joe Root and Jacob Bethell score a century. But South Africa won the 3-match ODI series by 2-1.

England achieved their fifth-highest ODI total of 414 for 5 in 50 overs. With 110 off 82 balls, Jacob Bethell achieved his first professional century, a remarkable showing for the youthful left-hander. Joe Root's cool 100 off 96 balls served as the innings' constant.

Jos Buttler's bold, undefeated 62 off 32 and Jamie Smith's 62 off 48 helped England surpass the 400-run milestone.

Archer and Rashid's bowling performance,  South Africa collapsed to 72 all out in just 20.5 overs

South Africa collapsed to 72 all out in just 20.5 overs while chasing 415. Jofra Archer destroyed the Proteas lineup early on with a scorching burst of 4 for 18. To complete the task, Adil Rashid took three more wickets at a cost of just 13 runs.
 

Record-Breaking Outcome, but ODI series win by South Africa by 2-1

The old ODI record (317 runs by India in 2023) was surpassed by England's 342-run victory, which also set the biggest winning margin by runs in men's ODI cricket history.
