ICC, JioStar Dismiss Exit Rumours, 4-Year Deal Intact
Updated - 13-DEC-2025 7:8 IST

The ICC and JioStar confirmed that their four-year contract of a USD 3 billion deal is still in effect and have categorically rejected rumors of an early departure from their broadcast relationship. The explanation fits with a lot of talk about potential renegotiations or a premature end of the agreement, which includes media rights for significant ICC events.
The Importance of This Deal
For ICC, the contract, which guarantees member boards' financial security while utilizing JioStar's extensive broadcast and streaming ecosystem, is regarded as a pillar of the ICC's media strategy. ICC events have seen high viewership since the relationship started, particularly on digital platforms, which has increased trust in the cooperation.
For Jio, the ICC rights continue to be a valuable asset for JioStar, boosting its advertising appeal and sports portfolio. In line with the ICC's goal of making cricket more approachable and engaging, the firm keeps investing in high-quality production, multilingual coverage, and fan interaction elements.
Statement after withdrawing from the deal
“JioStar is fully committed to honouring its contractual obligations in letter and spirit. Both organisations remain focused on delivering uninterrupted, world-class coverage of upcoming ICC events to fans across India, including the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, one of the sport's most anticipated global tournaments.”
Days after reports surfaced that the company is thinking of pulling out of the agreement, which is set to last until 2027, the official announcement was released on Friday, December 12.
ICC statement on rumours on this deal
“The ICC and JioStar have noted recent media reports concerning the status of the ICC's media rights agreement in India. These reports do not reflect the position of either organisation. The existing agreement between the ICC and JioStar remains fully in force, and JioStar continues as the ICC's official media rights partner in India. Any suggestion that JioStar has withdrawn from the agreement is incorrect.”
“Preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026 events are progressing exactly as planned, and there is no impact on viewers, advertisers, or industry partners. ICC and JioStar, as long-term commercial partners, maintain regular communication on operational, commercial and strategic matters focused on the role the partnership can play in growing the sport.”
