On July 2, in the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka 2025, the 1st ODI was played in the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 77 runs. Sri Lanka batsman Charith Aslanka scored 144 runs massive inning. After this win, Sri Lanka leads 1-0 in the 3-match ODI series.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka came to bat. With an effective 106 off 123 balls, which included six fours and four sixes, Charith Asalanka (c) served as the innings' mainstay. Against Bangladesh, it was his fifth ODI century and second.
In a 60-run partnership with Asalanka, Kusal Mendis put up a strong 45, but Sri Lanka found it difficult to sustain him as wickets fell all around him.
With stats of 4/47, Taskin Ahmed responded for Bangladesh, taking two early wickets.

Bangladesh got off to a good start thanks to a 71-run partnership between Tanzid Hasan (62 off 61) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (23). Disaster was caused by Shanto's run-out; in just 27 balls, Bangladesh went from 100/1 to 105/8. Jaker Ali's obstinate 51 provided some opposition, but he was the only shining example.
For Sri Lanka bowlers, with 4/10 in 7.5 overs, Wanindu Hasaranga caused mayhem and set off the collapse. At crucial moments, Kamindu Mendis added three wickets.

After this win, Sri Lanka takes the lead in the 3-match ODI series by 1-0. The second ODI match will be on 5 July in the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
