Steven Smith Announces Retirement From ODI Cricket

The first semi-final match between Australia and India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 took place on March 4. Australia lost to India by 4 wickets. Steve Smith, an Australian cricket legend, announced his retirement from One-Day International (ODI) cricket after Australia's defeat to India in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final. Smith scored an outstanding 73 runs in his final innings to cap off his 170th match as a 35-year-old ODI player.

Since making his debut in 2010 as a leg-spinning all-rounder, Smith has developed into one of the best batsmen in the world. He scored 5,800 runs at an average of 43.28 in 170 ODIs, including 12 hundreds and 35 half-centuries. He was a key member of Australia's batting lineup due to his range and skill.

Smith journey in ODI World Cup, he is part of World cup winning team in 2015 and 2013. In the 2015 world cup he scored an important 105 runs inning in the semi final against India and helped Australia to reach the final and played against New Zealand.
