After a time of recovery from an Achilles tendon injury, Taskin Ahmed, the pace leader for Bangladesh, is expected to return for the forthcoming trip to Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka in June 2025. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful that he would recuperate in time for the two-match Test series that starts in Galle on June 17.

What Happened To Him?

Taskin suffered the injury during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which prevented him from playing in Bangladesh's most recent Test series against Zimbabwe and their upcoming Twenty20 International series against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

Taskin got advice from a group of experts in London in April, which included a physiotherapist, a sports physician, and an ankle surgeon. It was decided to take a conservative, non-surgical approach to treatment. "A conservative, non-surgical approach is the best course of action for Taskin at this time," said Dr. Debashis Chowdhury, senior physician at BCB who accompanied Taskin. The rehabilitation approach is designed to properly manage the tendon disease and gradually restore his fitness. We have high hopes for his development.

Taskin should be ready for matches again

The support staff of the Bangladesh national team manage the implementation of the recovery strategy. By early June, Taskin should be ready for matches again, which would coincide with Bangladesh's June 13 arrival in Sri Lanka.

With two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is scheduled during the Sri Lanka tour, Taskin's return is expected to support Bangladesh's pace attack in all formats. His leadership and skills are seen as essential resources as Bangladesh starts this multi-format series.
