According to Media Report, Former New Zealand captain and veteran Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup. Kane Williamson was injured during IPL 2023 (IPL) and when he got his scan done, it was found that his injury is very deep and he will not be able to play in the World Cup.

Kane Williamson was a part of the Gujarat Titans squad in IPL 2023 but he was badly injured while fielding at the boundary during the first match of the tournament. Kane Williamson jumped in the air and tried to catch the catch, but in this round, he went out of the boundary line and when he landed on the ground, his leg got twisted. After this he had to go out of the field with the help of two people. And after that he was seen walking with the help of crutches.

Kane Williamson will have to undergo his surgery

Williamson arrived in Auckland on Tuesday to get his injured knee treated. After the scan, it was found that his right knee has suffered a lot and for this he will have to undergo surgery. For this reason, he will not be able to play in the upcoming World Cup.

Kane Williamson has given a big reaction to his injury. In a statement issued by New Zealand Cricket, he said

“The support I have received over the past few days has been amazing and I would like to thank both Gujarat Titans and New Zealand Cricket for the same. It is very disappointing to have this type of injury but my focus is now on surgery and rehab”

On the other hand, New Zealand team head coach Gary Stead has so far refused to accept Williamson completely out of the World Cup. He has said that there is still six-seven months left in the World Cup and by then Williamson may be fine.
