After Harry Brook was dismissed, Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell took the English team's score to 312 runs. Both of them shared a 71-run partnership in 42 balls for the sixth wicket. Livingstone remained unbeaten on 62 off 27 balls and Bethell scored 12 off 19 balls.
For Australia, spinner Adam Jampa took 2 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell got one wicket each.
