G11-Fantasy Cricket Prediction for Today's Match

Players retention rule can be announced today for the mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL Governing Council meeting was held at Four Seasons Hotel in Bangalore on Saturday from 11:30 am. Player retention was to be discussed in this meeting.

Cricinfo claimed that teams can get the exemption to retain 5 players. Also, teams can buy a player in the auction through Right to Match card. However, this is yet to be confirmed. If this happens, a team will be able to keep 6 players with them, which will be the highest in the history of mega auction.

What is Right to Match Card?

Teams can use Right to Match i.e. RTM card in the auction. For example, suppose Rohit Sharma was not retained by Mumbai Indians. His name came in the auction and he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10 crore. Now if Mumbai wants, they can use the RTM card to retain Rohit for Rs 10 crore. All teams will have 1 RTM card each.

Dhumal and Dalmiya will remain part of the council

Arun Singh Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya will remain part of the IPL Governing Council. According to the Cricbuzz report, the Governing Council meeting is scheduled on Sunday. In which Dhumal and Dalmiya will once again become part of the council unopposed.

Mega auction venue also discussed

During this time, the date and venue of the mega auction will also be discussed. This can happen in the Gulf City at the end of November. If the Governing Council agrees, Saudi Arabia can host the mega auction. Riyadh is at the forefront in the hosting race.

How many players are being retained right now?

As per the retention rules for the auction, a team can retain a maximum of 4 players, while one player could be added with the Right to Match (RTM) card. In such a situation, teams get a chance to retain 5 players. Any team is allowed to retain a maximum of 2 foreign players. BCCI allowed franchises to retain a maximum of 4 players in 2021.

Franchise owners had demanded last month

The teams discussed this with the board in a meeting last month. Most franchises were demanding to retain 5-6 players. It is being told that the board is going to agree to the franchise. The mega auction of the league can be held at the end of this year.
